Theory of Change

How the Big Values Theory Shapes Our Mission

The Theory of Big Values explains why our model centers leadership systems change, healing, confidence, and purpose, and how leaders grow from the inside out. Integrated into our leadership, it becomes the philosophical backbone of the Djaha Family Foundation’s approach to developing young women and underserved youth in Northern Virginia and Côte d’Ivoire.

Values shape identity

Values define who a young person are as a person and as a leader. They influence their character, their integrity, their leadership style, and the way people experience them.

Values guide decisions

Values act as a compass when choices are unclear, complex, or high‑stakes for young people. They help them decide what to prioritize, what to protect, and what to refuse, especially when the path forward is ambiguous.

Values determine the future

The choices they make repeatedly — shaped by their values — create long‑term outcomes. At the Djaha Family Foundation, values influence the culture we build, the legacy we leave, and the systems we shape.
